Elizabeth L. Ralph, 91, Enjoyed Crocheting and Making Candy

Photo of Elizabeth L. Ralph Elizabeth L. “Betty” Ralph, (nee Gross), age 91, passed away at the Northridge Health Center in North Ridgeville on Monday May 6, 2024 following a period of declining health.

Betty was born in Lorain on March 27, 1933 and was a 1951-A graduate of Lorain High School.

She began her working career in the early 1950’s with employment at the Lorain Stove Works as well as White Roth; in the 1970’s she worked as a clerk for the Lorain License Bureau. In 1978 she joined Pete DeSantis Distributing as a bookkeeper and office manager and faithfully served that company for nearly a quarter century prior to her retirement in 2002.

Betty was a member of the Alliance of Transylvanian Saxons Branches 5 and 11 for seventy-five years and a league bowler for more than a half century.

Deeply rooted in her faith, she was a life-long member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Lorain; Betty served the church as a Sunday school teacher, member of the Coffee Hour and volunteered to assist with the church’s monthly newsletter.

In her free time she enjoyed handicrafts including crocheting and making candy. In addition, she liked hearing and telling jokes. In her later years, she received the greatest enjoyment from casino junkets.

Betty is survived by daughter Debbie Tomusko (Bob) and son Tom Ralph. She also leaves grandchildren Lesley Hochevar (Brent), Brian Long (Danielle), Wade E. Cox, Julia Henderson, Jonathan Ralph (Karen), Angie Ralph, and Ashley Resch (Nick), as well as great grandchildren Kailey and Connor Hochevar, Addison Long, Wade and Mark Cox, Tyler and Blake Henderson, Rhys Berlin and Logan Ralph.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Richard Ralph, sons Rick and Bob Ralph, daughter-in-law Joyce Ralph, and all of her siblings.

Visitation will be Monday May 13th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 12:00 noon in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway, Lorain, Reverend David Rogers, Pastor of St. John United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park – Amherst Township.
