Charles L. Hall, 83, U.S. Army Veteran

Charles L. Hall, age 83, of Sheffield Township, passed away at Lake Pointe Health Care on the evening of Thursday March 28, 2024 following a period of declining health.

Born in Floyd County, Kentucky on March 27, 1941, Charles moved to central Ohio in early 1960; he later moved to Lorain County where he resided for more than sixty years.

A veteran of the United States Army and former member of American Legion Post # 30, , he was employed as an arborist for the Asplundh Tree Service. He also was the founder and owner of Hall’s Tree Service for more than a quarter of a century prior to his official retirement more than fifteen years ago.

Well known and well loved by many, Charles displayed a passion for vegetable gardening in his free time and was also known for his love for all animals.

Survivors include daughters Anna McKee residing in Forsythe, Georgia, and Roberta McKinney (Gregory) of West Salem, Ohio, grandchildren Hollanne Lee, Jocelyn McKee, Brant McKee, Julie Moses, Cristen Marshall, and Charles Lowe, as well as nineteen great grandchildren. Additional survivors included sisters Ava Wedgeworth of Elyria, Flossie Weinbrandt of Amherst Township, Margaret Haynie of Abbeville, Mississippi, Lydia Conn of Dana, Kentucky, Virgie Gmerek of Westerville, Ohio, and Phyllis Akers and Betty Stevens both of Harold, Kentucky and brothers James P. Hall of Lorain and Earl Hall of Ivel, Kentucky.

Charles was preceded in death by his son Charles L. Hall, Jr., father Orville Hall, mother Bertha L. Hall (nee Conn), stepfather Bill Hall, sisters Mary Mitchell and Norma McKinney, and brothers Raymond Conn and Bill J. Hall.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 12:00 noon on Wednesday April 3rd in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
