The extraordinary 94 year old born during the Great Depression on January 27, 1930 in Morovis, Puerto Rico left behind a staggering tale of a man know fondly as a “Papi”, “Papa”, and even “Baby Face”. He enjoyed life’s simplest pleasures, was an avid reader, a master gardener, and the most handsome of men. He lived in Lorain most of his life and retired from Ford Motor Company.

Pedro Marrero, as he was known, went to his eternal glory on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at home in Kissimmee, Florida following a brief illness.

Pedro enjoyed bolero music and pretending to learn to play instruments. He also enjoyed traveling, helping others, and making people laugh. Papi was very devoted to his family and his chickens.

Papi will be deeply missed by his children, Arlene Marrero, Delia Marrero, Steve Marrero. Stanley Marrero, John Marrero, Diana Marrero-Pinto, Marisa Ortiz; thirty grandchildren, and forty-two great grandchildren; his sisters Dominga Marrero, and Maria Marrero; brother, Edgardo Marrero and many who followed his life, living vicariously through his tales.

Pedro was preceded in death by his beautiful bride, Gloria Esther Marrero in 2014, grandson, Matthew Steven Marrero, sister Nanda Marrero, brothers Miguel Marrero and Luis Marrero and his parents, Serapio and Maria Marrero.

His family will receive friends on Thursday, March 21, from 4 to 8 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. Friends may also call Friday from 8:30 until time of at 9:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Father William A. Thaden, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

His family suggests contributions to the Sacred Heart Chaple Memorial fund.
