Risto "Chris" Jovanovski, 79, Always Willing to Lend a Hand

Photo of Risto Risto “Chris” Jovanovski, 79 of Lorain, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, November 13, 2023.

He was born in the Village of Nakolec, in the Prespa Region of Macedonia. In 1970, Risto immigrated to the United States. After settling in Lorain, he went to work at Ford Lorain Assembly Plant, retiring in 2000. Risto was a long standing and founding member of St. Clement of Ohrid Macedonian Orthodox Church in Avon.

He was always willing to lend a hand to a neighbor or friend and made friends everywhere he went. He was a fan of football and soccer, he also played soccer for many years as well as coaching and helped start the Lorain City Soccer Association. Risto also played the drums in various Macedonian bands all over the region. He also kept pigeons for many years and loved animals of all kinds.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lile Jovanovski of Lorain, loving son Johny (Nicole) Jovanovski of Lorain and loving daughter Mary Miller of Lorain. Risto was a loving Dedo to his grandchildren: Joseph of Elyria, Colton of North Ridgeville, Madison of Lorain, Lilliana of Lorain, and Michael of Lorain. Sisters Mila Fajstner of Sarasota Florida and Elka (Michael) Ioannidis of Sheffield Lake and many Nieces and Nephews.

Risto was preceded in death by his parents Krstin and Trajanka Jovanovski; grandfather Josif Yovanoff, grandparents Vasil and Stoja Stojanovski and son-in-law Michael Miller.

His family will receive friends at St. Clement of Ohrid Macedonian Orthodox Church, 38665 French Creek Road, Avon, Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, where a Parastas Service will be at 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be in the church Tuesday at 10:00 AM. Very Reverend Father Vasil Manasiev, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
