Tanasia Georgeoff, 91, Avid Seamstress

Photo of Tanasia Georgeoff Tanasia Georgeoff (née Athanasiou) 91 of Lorain, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 28, 2012 in Avon Oaks Caring Community following a lengthy illness.

She was born March 18, 1920 in Florina, Greece. She immigrated to Lorain 1952 via Winsor, Canada where she lived one year.

Mrs. Georgeoff retired as a seamstress in 1984 from Joseph and Feiss in Lorain. She worked there for 16 years. She also worked for greenhouses and picked grapes for John Christ Winery in Avon until 1990.

Tanasia was a member of Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Lorain, where she was a member of the Lady's Philoptohos Society. She enjoyed bingo, casinos, game shows and dining out. But she loved spending time with her granddaughter and great grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed by her daughter Annie (Gus) Peskiris of Lorain; granddaughter Athena (Kostas) Antoniou of Lorain; great grandchildren Andreas and Eliana; and a sister Mary Fragias of Athens, Greece.

She is preceded in death by her husband Naido Georgeoff in 1957; her parents Nicolas and Anna (née Siskou) Athanasiou; brother Lazaros Athanasiou and Evangelia Athanasiou.

Her family will receive friends Monday, January 30 from 4 to 8 PM in Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain (440) 277-8164, where Trisagion will be Monday at 7 PM. Friends may also call Tuesday from 10 AM until her funeral service at 11 AM in Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 2000 Tower Boulevard, Lorain. Rev. Father Michael Gulgas, pastor will officiate, Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.

Her family suggests memorial contributions to Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 2000 Tower Boulevard, Lorain, Ohio 44053.
