Maria M. Torres, 58, Affirmative Action Director

Maria M. Torres, age 58, of Lorain Died on Thursday, December 28, 2000.

Maria was born on September 27, 1942 in Santurce, Puerto Rico and resided in Lorain for 49 years.

She had retired as the Director of Affirmative Action for the City of Lorain.

She was a member of Scared Heart Catholic Church, had been chairperson of the Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority, Secretary of the Sacred Heart Community Corporation sponsors of the Mayor's Advocacy Board of Disable, Religious Education Teach, Echaristic Minister at Sacred Heart Chapel and a liaison of the City and National Puerto Rican Coalition.

Maria is survived by her husband, Efrain Torres, her mother, Maria Cruzado, of Lorain, her two daughters, Erica Torres and Marlo Torres, of Lorain, her son, Efrain Torres Jr., of Lorain, 3 grandchildren, her sister, Gloria Barash of Lorain, her sister, Susan Burge of Sheffield Lake, her brothers, Bobby Cruzado, Harry Cruzado, Jaaquin Cruzado, her sister Jacklyn Rentas, and her sister Alery Turcus all of Lorain.

Friends will be received Saturday, December 30, 2000 from 7:15 p.m. until the time of services at 8:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain with Rev. William Thaden, Pastor officiating.

Contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Chapel or New Life Hospice.
