Yeowomen Soccer Adds 12 for 2013

July 12, 2013 — First-year Head Women's Soccer Coach Dan Palmer is pleased to announce his 2013 incoming class, as well as the finalized 2013 schedule.

The Yeowomen added 12 newcomers to the roster, all of whom are ready and poised to contribute from day one.

"This is an exceptional class with a diverse skill set," Palmer said. "I would like to thank my assistant coach Mike Cracas for doing such a tremendous job in recruiting these players during the time of transition within the program. His hard work really paid off as this group of young women will be great members of our team and the campus community as a whole."

Headlining the class for the Yeowomen is Weston, Connecticut, native Grace Mattison, New York City product Tyler Sloan and Salt Lake City, Utah, native Taylor French.

Mattison departed Weston High School as the fifth leading scorer in school history. A four-year varsity player, she led the entire Southwest Conference in goals as a junior and this past season was named as a First-Team All-State selection.

Sloan helped the Beacon School go unbeaten in league play from 2009-2012. As a senior captain she led the division in goals and was named to the All-City team by the New York Daily News.

French was a four-year varsity player at West High School where she helped her team finish second in the region in 2010 and 2011. A National Honors Society member, French was an All-State Honorable-Mention selection in 2011. This past spring she also help her club team, Joga FC, finish undefeated.

A look at the Remainder of the First-Year Class

Emilia Omerberg - San Francisco, California - International High School
Emilia Omerberg was a two-sport standout in both soccer and basketball at International High School. On the pitched she help IHS win the league title in each of the last three years. She was a two-time Female Athlete of the Year (2010, 2012) selection at IHS. Omerberg also helped the San Francisco Vikings club team win two titles in each of the last two seasons.

Camilie Sacristan - Napa Valley, California - Justin-Siena High School
Camille Sacristan is a highly touted player that will immediately help bolster the Yeowomen's backline. Recently named as the All-County Defensive Player of the Year, Sacristan earned county honors in all four years at Justin-Siena High School.

Rose Guardino - Bloomington, Indiana - Bloomington High School South
A National Honors Society member, Rose Guardino is a former Indiana Soccer Coaches Association All-Academic selection. On the field she helped Bloomington High School South earn a Sectional Championship in 2009. An Indiana Scholar-Athlete Award winner, Guardino was also tabbed a Second-Team All-Area selection by The Herald Times.

Caroline Oehlerich- Skippack, Pennsylvania - Perkiomen Valley High School
A dual-sport athlete in soccer and track, Caroline Oehlerich will instantly provide speed for the Yeowomen. A four-year varsity player she was team captain of the soccer and track and field teams as a senior.

Caley Watnick - New York, New York - Eleanor Roosevelt High School
Another two-sport athlete, Caley Watnick excelled on both the soccer field and tennis court at Eleanor Roosevelt High School. Watnick was a two-year captain of the girls' soccer team and led the team to the 2012 New York City-Wide Championship match.

Casey McGuire - Hampden, Maine - John Bapst Memorial High School
Casey McGuire comes to Oberlin after an amazing senior season at John Bapst Memorial High School. She was named to the PVC First-Team and was also tabbed as a PVC First-Team All-Academic selection. A 2012 team captain, McGuire earned team MVP honors. A National Honors Society Member, McGuire also excelled on the track.

Katie Mercer-Taylor - St. Paul, Minnesota - Roseville Area High School
A 2013 all-conference honorable-mention selection, Katie Mercer-Taylor also played a large role the St. Paul Blackhawks club team. In 2012 she helped the Blackhawks win the State Championship as well as the Las Vegas Mayor's Cup.

Kitty O'Neill - Kohler, Wisconsin - Kohler High School
A two-year team captain, Kitty O'Neill was voted Team MVP and was a second-team all-conference selection last season. She was the Student Council President and Vice President of the National Honors Society at Kohler High School where she helped the team win the 2011 Regional Championship.

Zoe Schlanger - Portland, Oregon - Catlin Gabel School
Zoe Schlanger was a three-time All-District selection, including a first-team recipient this past season at Catlin Gabel School. She helped Caitlin Gabel to a state title in 2010 and state runner-up finishes in 2009 and 2011.

These 12 players will have their first opportunity to impress when the Yeowomen open the season on August 30 against Muskingum University on the campus of Bethany University.

In fact the Yeowomen's entire 2013 schedule is now in place. It features nine home games, with the home opener set for Monday, September 2 at 2:00 p.m. against Hilbert College.

Home North Coast Athletic Conference opponents include Allegheny (Oct. 15), Ohio Wesleyan (Oct. 26) and Denison (Oct. 29). View the complete schedule here.
