Photo of Agnes A. Micsak Agnes A. Micsak, (nee Bloom), age 89, passed away peacefully at Ames Family Hospice on the morning of Wednesday July 14th, 2021.

Born in Fremont, Ohio on July 4, 1932, she moved to Lorain at the age of six. In her later years, she had been a resident of Amherst.

Agnes was a graduate of Clearview High School where she was a member of the choir, a pianist in the concert band, and business manager of the high school yearbook.

While in high school, she was described by her classmates as the girl most likely to become Florence Nightingale. She fulfilled that prophecy by enrolling in the Massillon School of Nursing where she completed the three year curriculum to become a registered nurse. Upon graduation, Agnes embarked on a fulfilling career in nursing which led to her role as head nurse in the Psychiatric Unit at St. Joseph Hospital and Health Center in Lorain and, later, in a similar capacity at the former Lorain Community Hospital (now Mercy Health). She retired from the profession in 1997.

Agnes was a longtime member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Lorain where she served on the Vestry, the church guild, and as a volunteer in the church’s hunger program.

She was extremely family oriented and welcomed every opportunity to become engaged in the lives of her children and grandchildren by attending their athletic events as well as being present for each significant moment. In her free time she enjoyed knitting; she was also an accomplished cook and was well known for her French silk pie recipe as well as the seafood chowder that she prepared for special family celebrations.

Agnes is survived by sons Robert Micsak (Leah) of Denver, Sherman C. Micsak (Melinda) of Avon Lake, and daughter Charlene Wright also of Denver. Additional survivors include seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and brothers Charles Bloom (Mary) of Windsor, Colorado and William Bloom of Longmont, Colorado.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1982, father Sherman H. Bloom, and mother Jessie Bloom (nee Murrell)
