Olga Yovan, 96, Enjoyed Cooking

Photo of Olga Yovan Olga Yovan (nee Soviak), 96, of Avon, died Sunday, June 5, 2016 after a lengthy illness.

She was born May 22, 1920 in Lorain, grew up in South Lorain, spent most of her married life in Elyria and retired to Avon.

Olga graduated from Lorain High School. She enjoyed Bible study and was a former Sunday school teacher. Olga enjoyed cooking, flower gardening and solving crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her children: Gary Yovan of Tucson, Arizona, Ron (Lynn) Yovan of Irvine, California and Nancy Yovan of Avon; grandchildren: Aaron Yovan of Irvine, CA and Amy (Carl) Kasalek of Phoenix, Arizona and great grandchildren: Brooklyn, Austin & Bristol Kasalek.

She was preceded in death by her husband Theodore “Ben” Yovan in 1996, parents Andrew & Catherine Soviak (nee Furdyn), sisters Mary Rodblat and Anna Dusho and brothers Steve, Mike and Jim Soviak.

The family will receive friends Thursday June 9, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo- Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Private family funeral services will be held on Friday.

Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
