George F. Lyons Sr., 79, Enjoyed Hunting and Golfing
George F. “Fred” Lyons, Sr, 79, of Lorain, died Tuesday May 31, 2016 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain after a one-year battle with cancer.
He was born February 22, 1937 in Arthurdale, West Virginia and had resided in Lorain most of his life.
Fred retired from US Steel in Lorain in 2000. He enjoyed hunting, golfing and spending winters in Florida. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan
He is survived by his wife Ann Lyons; sons Steven and Michael Lyons; daughter Debbie Lyons; stepsons Bobby and Brian Sergent and other stepchildren; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; 4 brothers and 1 sister. He was preceded in death by his son George F. Lyons, Jr on Oct. 14, 2000, parents Ross and Mildred Lyons and 2 brothers.
The family will receive friends Saturday June 4, 2016 from 12:00-2:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will follow on Saturday at 2:00 pm. The Rev. James Justice, pastor of Firelands Community Church, will officiate. Cremation will follow.
