Juan Oyola, 89, Enjoyed Getting Together with Family

Photo of Juan Oyola Juan Oyola, 89, of Lorain, died Thursday, May 26, 2016 in his home after a short illness.

He was born April 14, 1927 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico where he lived 73 years before retiring in Lorain. Juan operated a small farm where he grew tobacco and coffee and later worked as a self-employed grocer.

Juan was an active member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain before he became ill.

He enjoyed getting together with family and enjoyed family meals. He also had fun dancing with family. He loved to take day trips around the island. He also enjoyed playing pool with friends and family.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 61 years Rosario Oloya (née Rodriguez); daughters Rosa (Daniel) Martinez of North Ridgeville, Mayi (Victor) Martinez of Cleveland and daughter Zulma Oyola of Lorain and son Juan (Lourdes) Oyola, of Bayamon, Puerto Rico; grandchildren, Daniel “Sito”, Caleb, Jay, Kathy, Nicolas “Nico”, Olivia, Bianca, Patricia, Wynne; great grandson Paolo E. Duran and many nieces and nephews.

Juan was preceded in death by his parents Amador Oyola y Maria Nieves and siblings Brother Jose, Alcadio, Maria, Eladio, Leoncio and Gloria.

His family will receive friends Tuesday, May 31 from 4 to 8 PM at Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. Friends may also call Wednesday, June 2 from 8:30 AM until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM at, 3401 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Father Donald Dunson, Pastor of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Elyria will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
