Dolores E. Alfred, 54, Enjoyed Watching Grandchildren's Soccer Games

Dolores E. “Dee” Alfred (nee Bansek), age 54, of Toledo, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday May 25th at Promedica Toledo Hospital.

Following her passing, Dee shared the gift of life by becoming a tissue donor through Life Connections of Ohio.

She was born in Lorain on June 30, 1961 and had been a resident of Toledo for the past nine years. Dee was a 1979 graduate of Lorain Catholic High School; she later attended Lorain County Community College.

She was currently employed as a replenishment department head for Kohl’s Department Store in Toledo. She had previously held positions as a sales associate for the Hallmark Shop in Toledo, as lead customer care specialist at Apple’s Grocery Store in Lorain, and as a composing room technician for the Elyria Chronicle Telegram.

Dee was a parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church in Toledo. She loved visits to the Wildwood Preserve Metro Park in Toledo, enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s soccer games, and liked casino trips.

Survivors include her son Justin Hilger (Heather) of Toledo, daughters Deanna Fiedler (Nicholas) of Vermilion, and Kelly Alfred of Toledo, grandsons Grady and Logan Hilger, mother Dolores M. Bansek (nee Trebonik) of Lorain, brothers Edward G (Paula) and Joseph both of Lorain., John (Tracy) of Amherst, James (Natalie) of Avon, Jeffrey of Columbus, and Michael of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, along with sisters Donna Baxter (Dave) of Lorain, Cynthia Bredel (Walt) of Wellington, Kathleen Sukel (James) of Lorain, and Christine Bansek of Highlands Ranch, Colorado. In addition, she leaves sixteen nieces and nephews.

Dee was preceded in death by her father Edward A. Bansek in 1997 and by a sister Geralyn Bansek in 1963.

Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter Parish, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Reverend Craig Hovanec will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
