Matilda J. Giasomo, 91, Avid Traveler

Photo of Matilda J. Giasomo Matilda J. "Tillie" Giasomo (nee Krukowski), age 91, passed away on Sunday, August 30th, 2015, at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain.

She was born September 7, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in Sheffield Lake with her brothers and sister under the care of Margaret and Jack Ferner. She has been a long time resident of Lorain and a member of St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain.

Tillie was an avid traveler and a reluctant, but lucky, gambler. She once won several thousands of dollars at Keno. When not accompanying her husband and friends on vacations, she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, sewing, shopping, gardening and being a homemaker- she cooked spaghetti almost every Sunday for her family. Tillie was also a meticulous photographer and record keeper. She spent time cataloguing and labeling pictures of all of her trips and family members in several albums.

She will be greatly missed by her sister Evelyn Paffumi of Leeds, AL; niece Marianne Paffumi of Leeds, AL, nephews, Ernie Paffumi of Leeds, AL, David Milasky of Avon and Joseph Krukowski of Chardon, sister-in-law Minnie Widland of San Fernando, CA and their families. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Melvin J. "Muggs" Giasomo; and her brothers, Ted and Frank Krukowski.

The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Prayer services will be held Friday at 11:00 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian burial at 11:30 am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Edward Smith, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
