Ida Warner, 87, Enjoyed Reading & Bingo

Ida Frances Warner (nee Becker), 87, of Venice, FL and formerly of Lorain, died Thursday April 25, 2013.

She was born September 8, 1925 in Czechoslovakia and moved to Lorain in 1926. She lived in Venice, FL since 2002.

Ida attended Lorain High School. During World War II, she worked at St. Joseph Hospital and US Steel. Later, she worked as a waitress at several area restaurants.

Ida volunteered with the PTA at St. John School, Southview High School and Lincoln Elementary School where she became known to the students as “Grandma Warner.” She enjoyed reading, bingo and going to casinos.

She is survived by her children: Susan Strnisha of Amherst, Jane Keene (Dennis) of Lorain, Joan O’Keefe of Birmingham, Joye (Charles Haught) of Lorain, Robert Lengyel (Denise) and Steve Lengyel (Penny), all of Venice, FL, Timothy Warner (Christine) of Amherst and Patrick Warner (Peg) of Lorain, 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and brothers Charles Becker (Janet) and Robert Becker (Donna) all of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her first husband Steve Lengyel in 1954, Patrick Warner in 1995, grandson Edward Warner, parents Emil and Frances Becker and sister Evelyn Wadatz.

Cremation will take place in Florida and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain.
