Mary Jane Menges, 80, Loved to Bake and Avid Cleveland Indians Fan

Mary Jane "Mame" Menges (nee Goebl), 80 of Avon Lake, passed away, Tuesday October 22, at her home following a sudden illness. Mrs. Menges, was born August 17, 1922 in Avon Lake, and has been a life long Avon Lake resident. She had worked as a cook at Troy Intermediate School, Avon Lake and then as a custodial aid throughout the Avon Lake School System, retiring in 1983. She had also worked for a time for Novotny Catering, Avon Lake.

As a child Mrs. Menges tied grape for local vineyards. She loved to bake and had once won a blue ribbon for her cheesecake. She was an avid Cleveland Indians Baseball fan and enjoyed watching professional baseball on television. She found great joy in spoiling her granddaughter.

Her husband Earl E. Menges passed away October 11, 1988. She is survived by a daughter Jill M. Walsh (Ken) of Avon Lake, granddaughter, Kaitlyn, a sister Bernice Tishel of Avon Lake and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she is preceded in death by her parents, Matt and Kate (nee Momrik) Goebl and brothers Bill and Ted Goebl.

Friends may call at the BUSCH-BURMEISTER FAMILY CHAPEL, 32000 Detroit Rd., Avon, from 2-9 p.m., Thursday, October 24. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home, Friday at 11:30 a.m. Deacon Howard Masony of St. Joseph Church will officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Memory Garden, Avon.
