Edward Solomon, 76, US Navy Veteran

Edward Solomon, age 76 of Lorain died Monday, March 18, 2002 at his home following a long illness.

Mr. Solomon was born on December 2, 1925 in Pittsburg, PA. He was a US Navy veteran. Mr. Solomon had lived in Lorain for the past 50 years.

Mr. Solomon owned and operated the former McGarvey's Restaurant in Vermilion for 42 years. He was a noted restaurant consultant and seminar leader. He also the author of the book entitles "Service Is An Honorable Profession." Mr. Solomon's interest included helping younf people. He employed many young people at his restaurant affording them an opportunity to improve themselves, teaching them work ethics and values.

He is a member of the Agudath B'nai Isreal Temple in Lorain. He was also a member of the National Restaurant Association.

He was an avid basketball enthusiast, playing for John Carroll University. He was a well known Cleveland Cavaliers fan and was voted Cav's Fan of the Year in the 1990's.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Barbara A. (nee Hritz) Solomon, daughters, Shelley L. Prueter of Grafton, Danna L. Reese of Avon Lake, sons, Richard Solomon of Ann Arbor, MI, Casey G. Solomon of Lorain, Jeff A. Solomon of Westlake, Jimmy A. Joles of Jacksonville, FL, 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Regina (nee Schwartz) Solomon and one sister, Sylvia Callif.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 20, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery.
