August 3, 2020 — Todd Houston was in the healthcare industry at a third party administrator for 23 years before deciding to run the show himself and start in Avon Lake in 2015.

"At the beginning we had a different business plan that originally we were supposed to outsource. But then we realized people on the outside do not care about the quality of service like we do," said Houston.

Houston explains that Performance Health does everything a health insurance company does, but does not take on the risk.

"The reason people choose us and not a carrier is the same reason you would choose a smaller business over a larger corporation: more flexible, lower costs, better service. You are a big fish in a small pond," said Houston.

Performance Health's motto is that they try not to say no to any client, regardless of their situation. Houston's favorite part of the job is interacting with different companies and organizations, and providing unique solutions to every situation.

"Our philosophy is to show up, have fun, and to do your job. Life is stressful enough sometimes, so we want our employees to enjoy what they are doing," said Houston.
