Pat Kubel: Lunch hour walking improves health!
3/14 -- I wanted to share with you the benefits of my lunch time walking (30" -5 days/wk). For the past year I have gotten serious about walking at lunch because I have had some hypertension and cholesterol problems. Lunch is a good time for me to walk because it was easy to incorporate into my daily activity and is a energy builder for the rest of the work day. A year ago my B/P was 150's/90's and my cholesterol was 248. Monday 3/05 at my doctor's appointment, my B/P was 100/76, my cholesterol was 127 and I lost 10lbs. I do take medication also, but my doctor tells me that without the walking and diet program, my B/P and cholesterol would never show the results. Proof of his wisdom - I slacked off since Christmas to walking 3 x's a week and, even though I am taking the same medication,
my bloodwork showed the difference of walkling 3 days vs. walking 5 days. So I would encourage anyone to take advantage of a no cost exercise program such as Lorain County Walks and do it at lunch - its working for me!
