Area Divas to Sing Together for the First Time

Thirteen of the area's "divas" will perform at the Paper Moon Winery (Website | Profile) on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009 as part of Oberlin Choristers (Website | Profile), "Cabaret Night at Paper Moon". The "Director Divas" -- a group of well-respected musicians, music educators and choral clinicians from the area -- will sing sets throughout the evening from 7:30 p.m. until 10 p.m.
The group is comprised of Oberlin Choristers Artistic Director, Katherine Plank, Primary Choir Director and Avon Lake Music Educator, Cynthia Orr, Intermediate Choir Director and Oberlin graduate Angela Bak, Concert Choir Director and Olmstead Falls Music Educator, Jennifer Call along with accompanists Lee Ann Dickerson, Joan Van Wormer, Sandra Neiding and Lisa Van Scyoc. Past directors for Oberlin Choristers include Valerie Miller who has taught voice lessons in the area and Jody Kerchner who is a well-respected choral music clinician and the Director of the Division of Music Education at Oberlin College (Website | Profile). The group is rounded out by Avon Lake Music Educator, Michelle Swislocki and Choristers staff members Shelly Rasmussen and Brenda Glasure.
The Director Divas are singing together for the first time in support of Oberlin Choristers who will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary in 2010. Paper Moon Winery is owned and operated by Sheryl Cawrse who is a former music educator. Ms. Cawrse participated for several years in the Lorain County Children's Honor's Choir which is sponsored by Oberlin Choristers.
