Senator Armbruster Encourages Affected Citizens to Apply For Disaster Assistance

As a result of the severe thunderstorms and flooding in Northern Ohio on June 21-23, President Bush declared Cuyahoga, Erie, Huron, Lucas, Sandusky, and Stark counties disaster areas. This means federal funds are now being made available to qualified families. State Senator Jeffry Armbruster (R - North Ridgeville) encourages all residents affected by the recent flooding to apply for assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

“I strongly encourage all affected residents in the counties declared disaster areas to contact FEMA as soon as possible to apply for assistance,” Armbruster said.

How to Apply:
Call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week. Residents with a hearing or speech impairment may call TTY 1-800-462-7585. You may also apply online at: http://www.fema.gov.

Before applying, residents should be sure to have their Social Security number, current phone number, a list of damages and losses suffered, the name of their insurance company and policy number ready.
