Senator Announces Release Of State Funds To Help Renovate Norwalk National Guard
Senator Armbruster pushed for priority funding for this project as part of the state Capital Appropriations budget, passed in February of 2005. This funding, combined with an equal share from the federal government will ensure the facilities are up to modern building codes and construction standards. The storage facilities, built in 1961 and 1988, have had few repairs over the years and are in serious need of exterior restoration and renovation work. As part of this project, several major upgrades are planned, including the installation of new vinyl siding, gutters and down spouts, new doors, door sill repairs and electrical upgrades. The exteriors of the buildings will also be painted and aluminum awnings will be installed.
“I am pleased that the Controlling Board has released these crucial funds. It is essential that we keep our National Guard Armories in good repair,” Armbruster said.
