Brown Hosts an Artist Reception

Residents in northeastern Ohio are invited to an Artist Reception on Sunday, April 17, 2005, hosted by Congressman Sherrod Brown (D-Lorain). As part of a month-long art show at the Art Gallery of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, in Akron, Brown will announce the winners of the 13th Annual Congressional Art Show Competition at the reception. 118 students from nine school participated in the art contest.

The 1st Place winner will have his or her work on display in the U.S. Capitol building for one year, and 2nd and 3rd place winners will have their work showcased for a year in Congressman Brown's Capitol Hill office.

The reception will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with Brown announcing the winners at 12:15 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

"I commend all 118 artists and look forward to honoring their works of art at the reception," Brown said. "And I want to remind everyone that the art show continues through the end of the month. I invite residents to enjoy the artwork of some very talent local students."

The free art show runs through Friday, April 29, 2005 and is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on weekends from 9 a.m. to noon.
