The Lorain County Recorder’s Office has entered into a contract with Cott Systems Inc. to provide a new document management system. Cott Systems, based near Columbus, Ohio, will provided software and services specific to the county recorder. The conversion of our existing data and images is already underway. Look for new functions and features over the next several months both in our office and on this website. We are proud to be able to provide these enhanced services and added efficiencies to the citizens of Lorain County. Effective February 22, 2008:
Pursuant to Ohio Revised Code 5302.221, all Affidavit of Transfer on Death to be recorded after a persons death must include the completed form "Ohio Medicaid Estate Recovery Form" prior to transfer or recording. Once the Recorder's Office has received the required information, they will submit the forms with a copy of the deed to the Medicaid Recovery Administrator. These forms are required for all Affidavit of Transfer on Death filed after a persons death. If you have questions regarding this new law, please consult an attorney.
