Local Radio Stations Hosting 'Pennies for Pets' to Save Homeless PetsLorie A. Wilber, Director of Marketing, WOBL/WDLW
October 27, 2009 --
This week, over 100 letters went out to all Lorain County schools inviting them to participate in our annual “Pennies For Pets” fundraiser to save homeless pets in Lorain County. This project is being hosted by “Partners With Paws”, a weekly pet adoption show on “Gold Country” WOBL AM 1320 (Website | Profile) and “Kool Kat Oldies” WDLW 1380 AM (Website | Profile).
“Pennies For Pets” may be a great service project for schools, but we’re extending an invitation to others to join us in our cause, such as service organizations, veterans groups, local businesses and social clubs.
Between now and the New Years Eve, we’re asking you to put canisters out (in a safe place so they don’t “walk”) so people can drop in their loose change. You would be surprised how quickly those pennies (and other coins) add up.
It only takes $29 to save one dog from death row at the dog pound and all funds collected from “Pennies for Pets” will be dedicated to “death row” rescue working with local animal rescue organizations.
To show our appreciation, a volunteer can come to your organization with a rescued dog, to talk to you about responsible pet ownership, pet education, and respect for pets.
If you would like to participate in “Pennies For Pets”, please call with your intent and your organization’s name will be announced on our radio stations during the “Partners With Paws” show along with all the other participants.
Last year, “Pennies for Pets” raised $2,208.81 in spare change, which saved 76 dogs from death row! Just think how great it would feel to be a part of such a wonderful project.
To sign up or if more information is needed, please call (440) 774-1320, Ext. 23.
The Pet Network was made possible as a class project by the Leadership Lorain County Class of 2007.
