Disaster Plan
Here are a few tips to help prepare your pet for a disaster, should the need arise:
- Have a plan or ask your vet for his recommendation.
- Be prepared to evacuate your home, if necessary, and still be able to take your pets with you.
-
Keep a supply of pet food, water, and medical supplies handy to take with you.
-
Make sure your pets are wearing updated I.D. tags!
-
Have restraints handy, including collars, leashes, and carriers. Even the most normally obedient dog can become very stressed by an emergency. Cats are a different matter…try to get them into carriers immediately.
-
Keep a “Lost Dog” or “Lost Cat” kit readily available, with plenty of posters including the pets photo and your contact information.
