Shirley Maldonado, 59, Enjoyed Country Music, Perch Fishing and Crocheting

Photo of Shirley Maldonado Shirley Jean Maldonado (Née Brewer) 59 of Lorain passed away Friday, March 11, 2011 in her home following a brief illness.

She was born November 21, 1951 in Wheeling, West Virginia. She was raised here in Lorain. She graduated from Admiral King High School in 1969. She graduated from Northern Institute of Cosmetology in Lorain and had her Cosmetologist License.

Shirley had been working at Western Enterprises in West Lake for the past five years. She also worked at Manco in Avon and Phoenix Products in Avon Lake for many years.

She enjoyed Country Music, perch fishing, crocheting and collecting American Indian and Elvis memorabilia.

She will be dearly missed by her sons Saul Maldonado, Jr. of Moore, Oklahoma, John (Bridget) Maldonado of Lorain and Elvis Maldonado of Louisville, Kentucky; her father John E. (Virginia) Brewer of Lancing, Michigan; sisters Beverly (Adrian) Gonzalez and Josephine (William) Maldonado both of Lorain; brothers Paul and William (Lali) Brewer both of Lorain, Howard (Juanita) Duff of Elyria and Jason (Nicky) Duff of Lorain; grandchildren Connie, Tony, John "L. J.", Jeremy, Serena, Justin and Giani Maldonado; great grandchildren Isaiah and Jordon.

She was preceded in death her mother Ruth Duff (née Bungard) and her companion of 16 years Americo Rodriguez.

Her family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, (440) 277-8164. Where her funeral service will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Rev. Father William A. Thaden, Pastor of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township, Ohio.
