Jean C. Buckley, 88, Avid Cleveland Indians Fan

Jean C. Buckley (nee Sugaski), 88, of Amherst Township, died Tuesday July 27, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born September 5, 1921 in Elyria and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Jean graduated from Elyria High School. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain for over 55 years. She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan, was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, was a devoted mother-in-law, enjoyed her pets and enjoyed attending Sunday mass.

She is survived by her children Janet Kurtz (Rob) of Amherst Township, Patrick Buckley (Sally) of Vermilion, Eugene Buckley (Lisa) of Wakeman, Thomas Buckley (Thelma) of Adamstown, Maryland, Timothy Buckley (Christine) of LaGrange, William Buckley (Valerie) of Livonia, Michigan and Mark Buckley (Carrie) of Lorain, 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, sisters Marian Straka (George) of Elyria and Eleanor Sanders (Bill) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and brothers Lloyd Sugaski (Gabrielle) of Tiburon, California and Don Sugaski (Sharon) of Riverview, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas E. Buckley on March 17, 1985, daughter Barbara Ann Buckley in infancy and parents John D. and Genevieve Sugaski (nee Klingshirn).

The family will receive friends Thursday 4-9 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Richard E. Hudak, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
