Re: Oberlin schools NO PLEDGE TO OUR COUNTRY |
 |
Message: |
I believe I understand the confusion now.
I have read the board minutes – no where (that I saw) does it say anyone is “prohibited” from reciting the pledge. The board policy states that the board cannot “require” anyone to say the pledge. The Chronicle-telegram, dated 4/15/09 states “The current board policy does not allow teachers or other school staff to lead students in the pledge, which has upset several parents and members of local veterans groups.”
This, in my opinion, is not the same thing.
I got my facts from the Board minutes, some people used the Chronicle.
Go figure.
Either way, sorry for the confusion.
