Now voters have an extra incentive for voting for Vermilion to move to 1st place...a chance to win fabulous prizes including a lakeside cottage stay at Lakeland Lodges (Website | Profile) in Vermilion, dinner for two and other prizes donated by Vermilion businesses. 9/3 -- The Oberlin Heritage Center (Website | Profile) will offer an introductory training workshop for volunteers interested in becoming docents (full tour or special room guides) for its historic sites tours and special events. The training will be held on Sunday, September 19, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Oberlin Heritage Center (Website | Profile) main office, located within the James Monroe House at 73½ South Professor Street in Oberlin. 9/1 -- Communities That Care (CTC)of Lorain County is offering free place mats to families and groups to celebrate the 10th Annual Family Day "A Day to Eat Dinner with Your Children". Hosted through the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University families are reminded to make a dinner date on Monday, September 27, 2010 with their children. Research by CASA consistently finds that the more children eat dinner with their families, the less likely they are to smoke, drink or use drugs.
