Re: Elections perspective . . . |

Saw that article. I've been aware that the world of Lorain revolves around Spitzer (and Giardini, and the good old boys, by extension) ever since the very first time Koziura introduced casino legislation in the statehouse many, many years ago. Though Giardini's real estate purchases highlighted by shootthebreeze occurred earlier this year, this news is decades old, as the behavior of Spitzer and Giardini are entirely predictable.
The good old boys think economic development is the same thing as real estate development, and is accomplished through deal-making and stacking the deck, but they are mistaken.
A glance at Lorain's transportation infrastructure should be a clue to any onlooker that HarborWalk can't get ever get off the ground, even after all these years. Good old boys wouldn't want to upgrade infrastructure, though, as it could make the whole city prosper, and not just their pet projects, which might cause people to move to Lorain, which might allow new political rivals to arrive on the scene. The good old boys would never want to share power, so they must make sure only their pet projects succeed while the rest of Lorain rots. |
