LORAIN — An unidentified caller helped Lorain police catch two juveniles who tried to burglarize an East 33rd Street home yesterday morning, according to Lt. Thomas Mize.

The boys, around 16 or 17 years old, did not enter the home and were caught by two Lorain police officers, Mize said.

The unidentified caller alerted Lorain police of the possible burglary and stayed on the phone describing the suspects and their whereabouts, Mize said.

"The caller gave us a very good description (of the suspects)," Mize said. Mize said what happened was a perfect example of residents helping the police and it would be great if more residents did the same.

"We can't do this alone. We need the public," Mize said. "With the holiday season, burglaries and purse snatchings always go up, so we need people to be extra attentive."

"Those neighborhood programs work. That's the best way to catch somebody," he added.

Great work by this unidentified Lorain citizen. We need more courageous citizens to do the same in their neighborhoods.
