Backpacks for Homeless Kids!
7/23 -- The Christ Child Society of Cleveland wants to be sure each homeless child in Lorain County has his or her own backpack! Backpacks have been filled by volunteers with assorted basic need items as well as toys and fun trinkets for the kids. The project is ongoing and is called the “My Stuff” project.

Leadership of Lorain County Class of 2008 Launches Website for the Homeless
5/20 -- Leadership Lorain County class 2008 will launch the Lorain County Taskforce for the Homeless Website. A sneak preview will be exhibited at the Leadership Lorain County's 2008 graduation on May 21, 2008. The Homeless Task Force will utilize the site as a resource for its’ volunteer members,the Lorain County community including the homeless. THe website will be hosted by www.loraincounty.com and will feature the following sections: Task Force Mission Statement and History; Who We Are; What We Do; What’s New; Resources and Publications. Once the site is developed, the Homeless Task Force will assume the responsibility for keeping it updated. The class will also participate in a dinner being held for the Homeless by Path, which has been scheduled for July 25, 2008. This event is still in the planning stages. The third part of the project will be to have the class help in the distribution of the Homeless Street Cards. These laminated cards contain contact information that individuals or families struggling with homelessness may need in order to find assistance with medical resources, In-Patient Drug Treatment, Mental Health Resources, Food, locating Shelters, Low-Income Housing Resources and the United Way First Call for Help contact information.
