Most of the work of the Homeless Task Force is done by its committees.  We are always looking for committed, hardworking people to join our committees!

Outreach Committee

The Outreach Committee promotes the activities and events of the Homeless Task Force and the issues surrounding homelessness and affordable housing to the media, funders, and the general public. The Outreach Committee also conducts periodic outreach efforts to community entities interested in the issues of homelessness and affordable housing in order to better coordinate services and programs and increase membership in the Homeless Task Force.

Chair: Nancy London, 322-6308

Housing and Supportive Services Committee

The Housing and Supportive Services Committee works to assure that information regarding affordable housing and available supportive services for homeless persons is regularly updated and disseminated to those who need this information.  This Committee also works to increase the coordination and collaboration of agency staffs that work directly with homeless persons so that efforts are not duplicated and homeless persons are directed to and receive appropriate services.

Chair: Kelly LaRosa, 204-4344

Continuum of Care Committee

The Continuum of Care Committee spearheads the county-wide continuum of care process that seeks to identify gaps in services for homeless persons and coordinate efforts to fill those gaps.

The CoC Committee also leads the twice-annual Point-In-Time Homeless Count. The purpose of Point-in-Time count is to determine the number of unduplicated homeless individuals in Lorain County on a given day,  The results are reviewed by the Homeless Taskforce,  Gaps in the homeless services continuum of care are identified and plans are developed and implemented to close those gaps.  The "count" results also help to identify the overall need for homeless services in the Couny. With diminshing resources and an increased demand for services, most funding sources in the State of Ohio are moving toward a competetive process.  Demonstrating the need for these services helps Lorain County service providers remain competetive in efforts to renew existing funding and obtain new funding for new projects.

The committee also coordinates the state and federal funding proposals for agencies that provide services to homeless persons and/or homelessness prevention activities. Download the Continuum of Care Committee’s submission to HUD

Chair: Becky Sigal, 244-9915

HMIS Committee

The HMIS Committee seeks to coordinate the efforts of all agencies participating in the state and federal Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) to ensure that data entry, management and reporting are coordinated, accurate, and timely. This Committee also ensures that all mandatory reporting entities receive the technical training needed to maintain the highest standards of data integrity.  Agencies receiving state or federal funds for services to homeless persons and/or homelessness prevention activities are mandated by law to actively participate on this Committee.
