Board Offers Free Certification in Mental Health First Aid
October 28, 2016 — The
Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour course that teaches participants to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses. Just as CPR is a life-saving technique that can help in a health emergency, Mental Health First Aid training can assist someone experiencing a mental health crisis. In the Mental Health First Aid course, participants learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health concerns, strategies to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to find resources.
The course requires no prior knowledge of health topics. Attendees must complete both morning sessions to receive certification.
