Shake Up Your Workout Routine this Month!

February 26, 2013 — The Lorain County Fitness Walks are held weekly to offer Lorain County residents an opportunity to get moving, improve heart health, maintain a healthy weight, and increase strength. Not only do the fitness walks offer great health benefits; they also provide an opportunity to join an active community.

According to Gallup survey results; if your best friend is active, you are three times more likely to be physically active. Our social circle has a direct impact on our weight and choices that affect health. "I [regularly] walk anyway; but the Fitness Walks add a social side to doing something healthy and fun," said Nancy Gildner, a regular Lorain County Fitness Walks attendee.

Join the Fitness Walks every Monday night in March at 5:30 pm at the Splash Zone, 95 West Hamilton Road in Oberlin. No membership is required and all ages are invited to join. Each walker receives a bottle of water and a chance to win prizes for participating. Walk indoors with WOBL/WDLW on-air personalities and get to know fellow walkers. You are welcome to join a walk whenever you have time in your schedule; a weekly commitment is not necessary.

March's Featured Speakers:

  • March 4th - Valerie Borzy, Mercy Wellness Nurse

  • March 11th - Rebekah Edwards, Licensed Massage Therapist

  • March 18th - Jill Connone, Wellness Coordinator, Kendal at Oberlin

Lorain County Fitness Walks is a walking program that was established in coordination with the Lorain County General Health District, Lorain County Metro Parks, Mercy Health Partners, and WOBL/WDLW in order to provide the community with greater access to engage in physical activity, while also contributing to improving the overall health of local residents.
