Why would you like to be elected?
I would like to help restore Northeast Ohio to its former greatness by encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation, utilizing Northeast Ohio's skilled workforce. Northeast Ohioans have a strong work ethic. Our talents are not being sufficiently utilized. We need to stop the migration of work out of Northeast Ohio to other sections of our country and to Asia. I have been a practicing attorney for over 50 years and would like to pursue a new career while I am still healthy and able.

What would you like to accomplish if elected?
I would like to end our occupation of Iraq as soon as possible. This will stop the deaths and wounding of our young American men and women who are fighting that war and, hopefully, reduce the violence and destruction of Iraq. I support Representative John Murtha's resolution to deploy American troops to Kuwait. Also, this will help to reduce burgeoning, out-of-control federal deficit and imbalance of trade that is destroying our country. This money could be better used to rebuild and repair America and Ohio's infrastructure, schools, water and sewer systems, bridges, and streets. Instead of nation building in Iraq, we should be nation building in America.

I would also like to restructure our trade agreements, NAFTA, GATT, and CAFTA, to create a more level playing field for American workers. We should not be trading on an equal basis with nations that do not pay their workers at least our minimum wage or that do not conform to America's health and safety standards. Also, we need to create a fair tax structure to help reduce the national debt and balance the budget. Health care should be accessible to all Americans, particularly for serious conditions that require immediate treatment or surgery. Our educational system should be improved. We need to instill a desire to be creative and innovative in our younger citizens. We must become more competitive in the global marketplace.

How do you think Internet technology will impact government services?
Internet technology is already impacting government services. For example, court filings in U.S. Bankruptcy and District Courts must be done electronically. Also, court filings and docket information are available through the Internet. Information concerning corporations is obtained through the Internet (Secretary of State). But Internet technology provides only information. It does not produce tangible wealth, although it may assist in the designing and construction of our infrastructure. I would hope that Internet technology will not become too impersonal, that government employees will continue to answer the phone and be accessible to our citizens.

What one bit of information do people not normally know about you?
I keep my word. I am reliable. When I say that I am going to do or not do something, I do or don't do it. I am also persistent and do not give up easily. My clients will attest to that. In short, I am honest and straightforward.
