| Why would
you like to be elected? |
| My successful years of experience in the healthcare industry, along with my solid educational background, positions me to represent the citizens of the Ohio 13th Congressional District. I have a thorough understanding of the issues that we face in the area of healthcare. Experts predict that this will be the area that the greatest amount of our tax dollars will be absorbed over the next 30 years. While the area of healthcare is one of the greatest issues facing our American society, many in our 13th District would agree that the economy and future job growth that is of utmost importance to them. Here is where I clearly draw the distinction with our current representative. It is because of her positions on key issues and her respetive votes on those issues that jeopardize job growth and subjects our district's economy to economic peril. Rolling back the Bush tax cuts is not good for job growth and the economy in our district. Voting against domestic oil exploration in an environmentally responsible way is not good for job growth and the economy in our district. Demanding that we bring our troops home from Iraq and surrender in the War on Terror is not good for job growth and the economy in our district. Voting for universal healthcare and forcing mandates of coverage on employers is not good for job growth and the economy in our district. Voting against responsible tort reform neither helps solve the healthcare crisis and is not good for job growth and the economy in our district. On this very website, the current representative states "...over the last 10 years, Ohio ranks 49th in job creation and percentage of people employed." This statistic did not happen over night. I would remind the smart citizens of our district that it has been a Democrat who has held this office since 1974 and it is about time that they be held accountable. I am a independent thinking Republican. I am not tied to the far right of my party. When I am elected, I will vote on the issues described above in a manner that the majority of Democrats and Republicans who reside in this district believe in. |
| What
would you like to accomplish if elected? |
| I have already mentioned much of what I would do concerning the issues in my previous answer. I believe that I would bring a new perspective to Congress since I am not a professional politician like our current representative. I will have the ability to hold my ground with members of my own party; but importantly, I believe that I will be able to reach across party lines to the mainstream of the other party. Our current representative has already proven her inability to do just that. As an example, I would draw your attention to her own remarks on her website where she blasts members of the Republican party for their "...corruption and cronyism," suggesting that this is nonexistent in her own party. As your Representative, I would be very visible in the district as I would attend and sponsor as many Town Hall meetings feasible to make the citizens of the District aware of how I represent them. |
| How do
you think Internet technology will impact government services? |
| I believe that the internet technology is already having a significant impact on our government services and will continue. Importantly, it is the private sector that drives information technology of which our government can take advantage of. Our government needs to begin using internet technology on everything from social security statements, Medicare statements and our tax filing procedure with the IRS, so long as it can be done in a safe and non-fraudulent manner. |
| What
one bit of information do people not normally know about you? |
| I began my college education with a major in Music, as a very accomplished percussionist. To this day, the skills I acquired from understanding the diligence of practice and balancing it with other interests in my life, have made me successful in the way I prioritize and balance my professional and family life. |
