| I am a former board member of the Lorain YMCA, and have also volunteered extensively at YMCAs.

| Family: |
| Ruth, my wife of 35 years, and I have 3 adult children. They are Scot and wife Kristina, Ross, and Elizabeth. Ruth and I are members of the Church of the Open Door in Elyria. |
| Why would
you like to be elected? |
| I want the commissioners to accept a leadership role in crime reduction. Continuing the status quo in which the county just treats symptoms – an expanded jail and a $45 million justice system – guarantees rising crime rates and escalating costs.
As we come to a resolution on the jail expansion, if a sales tax is needed, we must have a “transparent” plan in place. This allows the public to be properly informed before they vote on this tax. An opportunity to vote on it must be provided to the public.
|
| What
would you like to accomplish if elected? |
| I would like see a long-range plan adopted that sets goals and brings solutions to help improve all aspects of county business. It should include a crime reduction program and a recreation plan. A short explanation of a “long-range plan” is on my website. By the end of the next term I would like all of our citizens to benefit from this long-range plan. |
| How do
you think Internet technology will impact government services? |
As time progresses residents will be obtaining more services and information via the internet. Government efficiency should improve tremendously. Cumbersome reports will be populated automatically. Employee training will occur over the internet.
|
| What
one bit of information do people not normally know about you? |
| I am a trained naturalist. (Lorain County has hemlock stands left over from the last ice age!) |
