| Why would
you like to be elected? |
| The residents of Lorain County deserve a Commissioner that has the experience and leadership abilities to face our tough economic future. I would like to maintain the economic development initiatives we created during my term in office that produced 1200 new jobs to our county in 2007. I desire to maintain my working relationship with Ford Motor Co. in their efforts to expand their facility. Good paying jobs are essential to help reduce our crime rate so we can all enjoy a safer Lorain County. I want to continue to work with the Sheriff to help alleviate the jail overcrowding issue. I will continue to prioritize spending to ensure my residents are safe. I want to continue my efforts with the Foreclosure Task force to assist homeowners that are facing default. |
| What
would you like to accomplish if elected? |
| My goal is to continue to create good paying jobs and spur economic growth in the county. Continue to work collaboratively with LCCC to ready our workforce for new innovation jobs. Focus on the many safety issues facing our communities. I want to implement a disaster and weather alert system in the county. I want to help to save homes facing foreclosure and address our homeless population, which many are veterans. Make much needed improvements to the dog kennel. It is my hope to improve the quality of life for all Lorain County residents. |
| How do
you think Internet technology will impact government services? |
| The Internet is an essential part of doing business in the county. It is a necessary economic development tool in our efforts to attract new businesses to our County. The Internet is where site selectors go to find out about what Lorain County has to offer. We use the Internet to put our REAL Team together when a job lead arises in order to address a company’s needs in a timely fashion. We also use it for discovering and applying for grants, in our bidding process, to promote adoptions at the kennel, to educate and to get educated. The list is endless. I wonder how we ever survived without it. |
| What
one bit of information do people not normally know about you? |
| I have a very special place in my heart for veterans. My mom's first husband was killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor. My father served in the Army in World War II and my campaign manager; John Pena is also a vet. I am an auxiliary member of the American Legion Post 118 and have the utmost respect for those who served us in the past and those who are serving us now. |
