| Why would
you like to be elected? |
| I have experienced the world while in the US Military and I have come back "home" to raise my family and live out my life here. I only know of one way to make a difference in life and that is to be straight with the people...tell it like it is and most importantly....to get involved. Many times in the not so distant past....politicians have talked of how they wish to run our city like a business. In a business...its all about the bottom line figure and less about the people within the business. I would like to go back to how I remember the city run....with a hands on FAMILY approach. Treating everyone within the city as a family member and doing what is best in our city for OUR family. |
| What
would you like to accomplish if elected? |
| One of the first things I would like to accomplish, is a working relationship with all members of the city government, its employees and most importantly the residents. I would like to see some sort of realistic salary control within the city government. The "we have to have it now" approach is putting our city in a major financial crunch. One of the key ways to insure the city is spending our money correctly, is to attend every financial meeting and appropriations meeting that comes up.
Another is to take a common sense approach to how our money is spent and stop buying, buying, buying and borrowing money. I would like to see our roads taken care of better in the winter and when there is no snow on the ground. Paving roads and salting more than the intersections is what I speak of. Most importantly, I would like to see smart growth within our city. New business that actually pays money to help the schools and the community would be a nice start. I would also like to see a better way of hiring outside contractors to do work that the city pays for.
Lastly, I WILL be a representative of THE PEOPLE. With the family approach....your problem is MY problem and I will treat it as such. |
| How do
you think Internet technology will impact government services? |
| I believe the Internet is the future of getting information to all. That is why I personally created the North Ridgeville Democrat Party website (www.nrdems.com) It was our goal as a party to inform all the voters of who we are and what we do. We have had great success with the site. I have also created websites for each and every candidate, which can be found under the 2007 candidates tab. Having websites allows each candidate to get out their message and interact with each resident. |
| What
one bit of information do people not normally know about you? |
| I have lived in this city all my life. I am here to stay, and my wife and I are raising our 4 boys here. We want to make our city even better than it is now. The only way I know how to accomplish this, is to be involved. If elected, I promise to do what is best for our city and our family. Please take the time to visit my website, where I have listed numerous topics and issues I would like to address if elected. www.mclaughlin.nrdems.com |
