| Why would
you like to be elected? |
I want to be Governor to rebuild Ohio s economy and bring new jobs to our state. I am inspired by Ohio s economic history, filled with people of all nations, faiths and races who made things, grew things and invented things. We cannot attract new
jobs to Ohio with our current high tax burden. State spending increased 71% between 1994 and 2005 and hiked Ohio s tax load to the 3rd largest in the nation. That s why I spearheaded the Tax and Expenditure Limitation (TEL) and am pleased with the statutory TEL enacted by the Ohio legislature.
Without spending reform, we can t have tax reform. As governor, I will continue my fight against higher taxes and create a pro-job Ohio tax structure that will help rebuild our communities.
Without tax reform, we can t attract new jobs. That's why I want to lower and simplify Ohio s income tax by moving to a flat tax. I want to eliminate the death tax which drives many talented individuals out of Ohio and to other states, taking their expertise and leadership with them.
I believe my vision and leadership will put Ohio back on track. |
| What
would you like to accomplish if elected? |
As Ohio s next Governor, my top priority is to rebuild our economy and create new jobs by: (1) making our tax code friendlier towards job creation, (2) reforming our regulatory system, (3) finishing the job on tort reform, (4) improving performance in our public schools and (5) providing affordable health care options for all Ohioans.
We cannot tax our way into economic prosperity. We must control spending and cut taxes to be competitive. I will spur economic growth and job creation through a lease of the Ohio Turnpike. This will provide new dollars to invest in economic development and infrastructure projects, vital to job growth, without new taxes.
We will improve our education system by requiring more of every education dollar be spent on in-classroom expenditures.
If we improve our tax structure and educational
system, we make a strong case for young professionals to work, live and raise a family in Ohio.

| How do
you think Internet technology will impact government services? |
| Electronic technology will play an essential role in making state government more consumer-friendly and efficient. Use of electronic records allows for quicker processing of permits, records and has played a large role reducing the time it takes to establish a business in the state of Ohio from a matter of weeks to a matter of days. Shifting the records of Ohio s health care agencies from paper to electronic form will provide for timelier, more accurate services, and will create fewer headaches for public employees and individuals receiving state services. |
