WEOL AM 930 names host for new afternoon program

February 2, 2017 — Elyria-Lorain has named Andy "Bull" Barch as host of the radio station's new afternoon program that'll air from 3pm to 6pm weekdays.

Andy is a graduate of Bowling Green State University and began his broadcasting career in Jamestown, New York. No stranger to Lorain County, he has been the "Voice of the Lake Erie Crushers" for the past six years and has served as Director of Sports Information/Broadcasting for Notre Dame College in South Euclid.

"Hosting a talk show has always been a dream of mine, and we're going to have an absolute blast both in the studio and when we're out on remote", said Andy.

As for the nickname, "Bull", Andy says, a colleague gave it to him years ago, because Andy reminded him of the character Bull Shannon from the TV show, "Night Court".

Andy will be joined on the new program by WEOL's Matt Douglass. Over the past year and a half, Matt has been heard on the WEOL Morning Show, on high school football and basketball games, and has been actively involved with WEOL broadcasts at community festivals and live remotes.

WEOL Station Manager Tim Alcorn says, "We are thrilled to have Bull and Matt handle our brand new afternoon drive program. Bull has already been a part of the WEOL family the past few years with his broadcasts of the Crushers games, and Matt has done an exceptional job in various roles he has played with the station since joining us in 2015. We are tremendously excited to have them anchor live, local programming during the afternoons on AM 930 WEOL for the first time in nearly 15 years. Plus, listeners will not only be able to hear their show on-air, but also on-line at weol.com and by downloading the free WEOL app".

The new afternoon program on AM 930 WEOL will begin in late February.
