Sober St. Patrick's Day returns bigger & better

February 3, 2015 — It's a great day for the Irish every St. Patrick's Day as celebrations abound but area it will be a great sober day for some partygoers who will take part in a new and different kind of celebration with the growing movement for a Sober St. Patrick's Day alternative.

The northern Ohio Sober St. Patrick's Day Celebration is Tuesday, March 17th from 5pm 'til 8p at , 726 Avon Belden Road, Avon Lake, OH 44012.

Sober St. Patrick's Day - northern Ohio offers outstanding Irish entertainment with performances by Mary Agnes Kennedy (guitar and vocals) singing traditional Irish ballads; Patrick Kilroy on bagpipes; The Clash of the Tartans, an all-women quintet, traditional Irish tunes and songs with Fior Gael featuring Brian Bigley, tin whistle & uillean pipes, Rory Hurley, guitar & vocals, and Brian Holleran, flute. The Burke School of Irish Dance and the Cleveland Ceili club will demonstrate traditional Irish forms of dance. The St. Ignatius Circus will enliven the children's activity area with magical juggling.

Admission, which includes entertainment, parking, coffee, tea, and soft drinks provided along with hot hors d'oeuvres will be $15 per person, $10 for students or seniors, and preschool children are free. The Sober St. Patrick's Day - northern Ohio event is a family-friendly, alcohol-free party. Ahern's Banquet Center has ample free parking and is convenient to I-90 just north of the Rte 83 - Avon exit. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.soberstpatricksday.org. Last year's event sold out in advance.

The purpose of Sober St. Patrick's Day is: To reclaim the true spirit of the day and to change the perception and experience of what St. Patrick's Day can be, by providing family-friendly, alcohol free events celebrating the best of Irish music, dance and culture.
