5/16 -- Join the TrueNorth (Website | Profile) Chorale and Symphony on May 18th at 7:30pm as they perform Lux Aeterna, written by contemporary composer Morten Johannes Lauridsen. Lux Aeterna--Eternal Light--is an intimate work of quiet serenity centered around a universal symbol of hope, reassurance, goodness and illumination at all levels. The serenity and the uncomplicated and lyric style of Lux Aeterna, is fashioned on texts from several different Latin sources, including the requiem mass, each containing a reference to Light. 5/15 -- The Allen Memorial Art Museum (Website | Profile) at Oberlin College (Website | Profile) announced that it will offer free admission to the Weltzheimer/Johnson House on Sunday, May 19 (from 12pm to 5pm), as part of the Association of Art Museum Directors' (AAMD) Art Museum Day, coinciding with International Museum Day and Weekend on Saturday, May 18, 2013. Community Music School Celebrates 10th Anniversary

5/14 -- The Community Music School (CMS) at the Oberlin Conservatory (Website | Profile) will present a "Mega Musical Mash-up: A Festival of Community Music" on June 2. It will be the culminating event in a series of ten concerts and musical events put on to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of the CMS. The event will include performances by a variety of ensembles from Oberlin, including the Community Music School, the Oberlin Choristers, the Oberlin High School Concert Choir, and many others. There will also be family-friendly participatory music-making activities, such as a chance to make your own instrument, the opportunity to try your own hand at playing an instrument in the instrument petting zoo, and free ice cream. This free event will be from 3:00 pm to 5:30 p.m. in Tappan Square (or Warner Concert Hall if it rains) and is open to the public. Full Story

The French Creek Nature & Arts Center (Website | Profile) is transformed into Mardi Gras on Bourbon Street for the evening as we celebrate and support TrueNorth Cultural Arts.
