Ken Carney, Lorain County Engineer, announced today that there are 4 members’ terms expiring on the committee that was formed four years ago to implement the Clean Ohio Program approved by voters as Issue 1.

These funds are allocated by district. District 9 consists of Lorain, Medina, and Huron counties. The committee, known as the Natural Resources Assistance Council, has 11 members. Members must be representative of the following areas:

  • One member from the existing integrating committee, which currently oversees the Ohio Public Works Committee projects

  • One member representing a soil and water conservation district

The 9 other members are chosen from the following 5 categories, with at least one member from each category:

  • County, municipal corporation, township, conservancy district, regional or joint district or unit of local government

  • Conservation organization, environmental advocacy organization

  • A city park system, metropolitan park system, or board of park commissioners

  • A statewide organization representing agriculture and an organization representing forestry interests

  • An organization representing business, local realtors or a planning agency, including a Port Authority

Of the three members whose terms are expiring in September, one is the Integrating Committee representative and the other three could be from any of the 5 categories.

The organization or entity must nominate their representative. More information and forms are available at the County Engineer’s office. All nominations are to be submitted to the Lorain County Engineer’s office by July 29, 2005.
