Lorain County Engineer

The Lorain County Engineer would like to inform the residents of Lorain County that construction season is underway and there are many projects to be completed in 2005.

Please exercise caution in workzones and be aware of your surroundings at all times. Maintain assured clear distance from the vehicle in front of you and slow down. Observe all signage when entering a workzone as these signs will explain what is happing ahead. In situations where Flaggers are being utilized for traffic control follow their instructions and be patient.

The County Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving infrastructure, this also includes Pavement Markings such as School Zones, Center- Lines, Edge-Lines, Stop-Bars at intersections and Channel-Lines. Stripping Lorain County roads is done in the summer and fall each year with a combination of Latex Paint and Glass Beads for reflectivity. Drying time for this paint depends on weather conditions such as humidity and temperature for paint to dry. When you encounter this process on Lorain County roads this year, please pay attention to the Wet Paint signs on the vehicles and the cones that are placed on the roadway. Please do not drive on wet paint, as it will cause damage to your personal vehicle. We apologize for any inconvenience that may be caused during the construction season of 2005.
