The Lorain County Engineer's Office would like to pass along this railway information to the citizens of Lorain County as well as anyone else interested:

The Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway Company is upgrading its track in accordance with federal law and regulations to allow a 40 mph track speed. The track has been listed by public authorities as a 49 mph track, but over the last 15 years part of the track has been maintained to just 25 mph. This is part of a major capital project upgrading track through seven counties which should decrease the potential for derailments and improve customer service.
