Ken Carney, County Engineer announced today that Burton Scot Contractors LLC, Newbury, Ohio has been awarded a $1,440,000 contract for the resurfacing of Russia Road in Carlisle and New Russia Townships. The project will consist of widening of the paved shoulders to 4 feet, ditch setbacks where required, asphalt planing, asphalt resurfacing, asphalt drive aprons and guardrail improvements. Existing roadway culverts will be extended and/or replaced with upgrades of the roadside drainage systems. The Engineer’s estimate was $1,710,556. The funding for this project is 100% Federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Funds (ARRA), also known as Stimulus Funds.

The Russia Road project limits are from State Route 58 to Oberlin–Elyria Road, approximately 4.9 miles. Traffic will be maintained except for culvert replacements where traffic will be detoured during their replacement.

Work on the project is scheduled to begin in November of 2009 and be completed on or before December, 2010 with the majority of the work performed in 2010.
