Abbe Road Reconstruction

Elyria – Ken Carney, Lorain County Engineer, announced today the approval to enter into a contract with MS Consultants of Youngstown, Ohio for the sum of $299,997 to provide engineering services for the Reconstruction of Abbe Road, from State Route 254 south to the Elyria Corporation limits in Sheffield Village. MS Consultant was selected using the County’s selection process and is ODOT pre-qualified.


The Abbe Road project consists of widening the roadway from four lanes to five lanes, installing additional traffic control devices and the addition of sidewalks at an estimated cost of $1.6 million. Federal funds for the construction are expected to be available to cover 80% of the project cost and Ohio Public Works Commission funds are expected to be available for the remaining %20.

The project when completed is expected to improve the flow of traffic though this congested area.
