4/8/08 -- Elyria- Ken Carney, Lorain County Engineer announces the 2008 Annual Highway Condition Report. In addition to our in-house grader hot mix and chip and seal program, the following 2007 Resurfacing and Safety Program was completed in 2007.

TOWER BOULEVARD

1/28/08 -- City of Lorain- Ken Carney, Lorain County Engineer announced that K. E. McCartney & Associates, Inc. was selected to provide engineering services for the Tower Blvd. extension project, from Falbo Avenue to Elyria Avenue in the City of Lorain. This is part of the Lorain County Engineer’s Joint Development Engineering Service Agreement with the City of Lorain. K.E. McCartney & Associates will provide the design engineering and bid documents for $503,232. The Engineer’s estimated construction cost is $3.5 million, which is currently on the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating (NOACA) plan for federal funding covering 80% of the construction cost. It is anticipated the City of Lorain will obtain the local share of 20% though the Ohio Public Works Commission.

Kipton-Nickel Plate

5/5/08 -- LaGrange Township - Ken Carney, County Engineer, announced today that Kipton-Nickel Plate Diagonal Road, at the intersection of Whitney Road will be closed to thru traffic for one day May 7, 2008 to replace a deteriorating road culvert. Weather permitting. Detours will be posted. Your cooperation during construction is greatly appreciated.
RAILROAD CROSSING REPAIR/ ROAD CLOSING

4/17/08 -- LaGrange Township– Ken Carney, County Engineer, announced today that he has been contacted by CSX Railroad and been informed the railroad is going to close their crossing on Whitney Road, just east of Whitehead Road for repairs. This, in turn, closes Whitney Road at the crossing. The repairs are scheduled to start at 9:00am. Monday, April 21st... And to be complete in one week, according to CSX.

Temporary Road Closure - Culvert Replacement

4/10/08 -- Camden Township - Ken Carney, Lorain County Engineer, announced today that Gore Orphanage Road just south of State Route 20 intersection, will be closed to thru traffic on Thursday, April 10th for one day (weather permitting) for replacement of a deteriorating road culvert. Detours will be posted. Your cooperation during construction is greatly appreciated.
Whitney Road

4/8/08 -- PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP - Ken Carney, Lorain County Engineer, announced today that repairs will be made to a bridge located ¼ mile east of SR 58 on Whitney Road. Repairs will be performed by county crews which include; resetting the north sandstone wall over the bridge, channel cleaning, erosion protection and other miscellaneous repairs. Work will begin Tuesday, April 8th, and require a road closure for approximately 30 days. The suggested detour route will be posted.
Emergency Bridge Repair

10/23/07 -- Wellington Township – Ken Carney, County Engineer, announced today that Hawley Road ½ mile north of State Route 18 in Wellington Township will be closed to thru traffic beginning Thursday, October 25, 2007 for approximately two (2) days (weather permitting) for emergency bridge repairs. Detours will be posted.
